For over twenty years, the "Classic Craftsmen" products produced by The Design Shop have adhered to several benchmarks. Because of our respect and knowledge of the game of golf...its history, its traditions, and the quality of the game...we have maintained a philosophy of uncompromising quality and integrity. We are not producers of novelty or souvenir type items, and our specialty is in the production of highly detailed and totally accurate items associated with the history of golf and golf items of a custom nature.

We are pleased to have our products featured in many museums and golf displays throughout the world, in the personal collections of a number of golf's most famous personalities, and used by prestigious tournaments. There is nothing mass produced or assembly line in nature about our products. Everything is hand finished. Everything is proprietary to The Design Shop. We ship to all quadrants of the globe, and we take special pleasure in working with large and small orders that involve personalization or a custom touch. Wholesale pricing is available to clubs, tournaments, and companies.

Projects and commissions handled by The Design Shop have included the custom design and manufacture of trophies and awards for tournaments both large and small. We have installed displays relating to the history of golf in clubhouses and have manufactured totally faithful copies of historic clubs for museum and private displays.

Our customers include Titleist, MacGregor, Spalding, Maxfli, American Jr. Golf Association, United States Golf Association, The Royal and Ancient, Arnold Palmer Golf Academy, Jack Nicklaus Collection, Sea Pines Plantation, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Grand Cypress, Heritage Golf Classic, Atlanta Golf Classic, The Golf Channel™, Delta Air Lines, Bonnell Aluminum, Boeing Aircraft, Abercrombie & Fitch, Andersen Consulting, Marriott, Matsushita, Sony, and many private country clubs throughout the world.

golf ball displays My entry into crafting antique ball and club reproductions and other items related to golf’s early history was the outcome of my association with the late Laurie Aucterlonie of St. Andrews, Scotland. Laurie was the last in his long line of well known St. Andrews’ club and ball makers, and he served as the Curator and Honorary Professional for The Royal & Ancient. Over the years, he became a mentor and friend. We "clicked" because we shared a viewpoint of uncompromising quality. Eventually, I was pleased to have my work on display in his shop. Since then, I’ve boiled many feathers (bad smell) to make featheries, and boiled much horn (worse smell) to inlay sole plates in reproduction putters. There are many short cuts available in making our merchandise, but I prefer to avoid them. We’re pleased that our devotion to detail has been recognized by so many who appreciate quality and craftsmanship. - John Norman White
